NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR GATWICK DIAMOND INITIATIVE
26 April 2016
The Gatwick Diamond Initiative has announced the appointment of Jeff Alexander as its new Executive Director.
Jeff will lead the implementation of the Gatwick Diamond Initiative Strategic Business Plan that seeks to promote the area as a world class business location, attract investment, and foster the growth of existing and new businesses.
Jeff takes over from Rosemary French OBE who has recently taken an extended career break. Like Rosemary, Jeff brings extensive experience of working with the private and public sectors to promote economic development and investment. Most recently he has advised the Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership on its support for skills and innovation including attracting Growth Deal and European funding.
Jeff is known to many in the region as Executive Director at the former South East England Development Agency (SEEDA). He headed the team that set up SEEDA and then led on the first two Regional Economic Strategies before taking on responsibility for the Agency’s business support and inward investment operations.
In his earlier career, Jeff held a range of policy and operational posts in government departments covering transport, sport, local government finance, regeneration and planning.
Jeff and his family have lived in Horsham for over 30 years but he is still always on the lookout for anyone who can hold an informed conversation on Welsh rugby!
He said: “I am delighted to be taking up this role. As an economic area, the Gatwick Diamond is a huge regional and national asset. I look forward to working closely with all our partners to attract the investment needed for its future success.”
