Gatwick Diamond Initiative welcomes shining lights to guide local growth

A trio of business high flyers has joined the board of the Gatwick Diamond Initiative, an organisation that seeks to grow the local economy.
The Gatwick Diamond Initiative (GDI) is a partnership of business leaders, colleges and universities, local authorities, and government agencies aiming to grow the region's employment, attracting new jobs and securing new investment.
Three local business leaders have joined its Board of Directors: Simon Pringle (Co-Founder of Red River Software), David Bywater (Senior Partner at KPMG in Crawley) and Bob Pickles (Head of Corporate & Government Affairs, Canon UK & Ireland).
Simon Pringle brings a wealth of experience founding successful entrepreneurial projects. As co-founder of the highly successful Horsham-based technology business, Red River Software, he works closely with clients to identify ways in which cutting edge technology can be used to grow their businesses. Simon is also a mentor to entrepreneurial start-ups, helping to foster local home-grown talent.
Bob Pickles has worked for Canon (UK) Ltd in Reigate for over 20 years and, in his current role, works to build strong relationships between Canon and the public sector, representing Canon in all its dealings with Parliament. He is also involved in a number of local committees and groups concerned with supporting the economic development of the area.
KPMG Partner, David Bywater, works with a business clients of all sizes locally, from listed and private equity-backed companies to family-owned businesses across a range of sectors. David is also a spokesman for KPMG on tax issues as they impact upon SMEs in the UK, and has been widely quoted over the years in the national press on the Chancellor’s Budget and other major tax policy announcements.
Speaking of his appointment, David said: “I am delighted to be joining the Board of the Gatwick Diamond Initiative, in particular to support businesses in the area which make a significant contribution to the national economy.” Simon added: “I am an avid supporter of this region in terms of its potential to be a leading location in a global context. I look forward to working with the Gatwick Diamond Initiative team to drive future growth for the benefit of local people.” Bob said: “Business involvement is a real strength, providing the vision and leadership necessary to drive sustainable economic growth and job creation for the future success of the Gatwick Diamond economy.”
