‘Manor Royal Know your Neighbour’ event is major success

Hundreds of delegates from a wide range of businesses across Manor Royal packed Crawley’s Crowne Plaza Hotel conference centre last Thursday (12th) for one of the business district’s premier networking events of the year.
More than 300 people attended Manor Royal’s biggest Know Your Neighbour event to date featuring 60 exhibitors, including Virgin Atlantic, Varian and Siemens. One of the event’s seminars featured the popular ‘Soapbox’ session, which provided each presenting company with two minutes to promote their products and or services.
Another seminar provided an update from the Manor Royal Business Improvement District (BID) board and a third featured a presentation from the University of Brighton on how companies may benefit from its local initiatives.
Michael Deacon-Jackson, director at Manor Royal-based FTDJOHNS, said the company was excited by the event. "All the FTDJOHNS staff were in attendance, which reflects how important we feel the event is," he said. "It’s the only time of the year when the majority of Manor Royal companies come together and the importance of this cannot be overstated.
"The Know Your Neighbour event is an opportunity to understand what Manor Royal provides, not only in terms of locational advantage but more importantly what the businesses themselves offer. We were very pleased to support the event."
Trevor Williams, Chairman of the Manor Royal Business Improvement District (BID) emphasised that businesses attending the event welcomed the chance to engage, share views and explore mutual business opportunities. He added: “It was pleasing to see so many businesses meeting in one place and taking advantage of this excellent opportunity to identify new customers and suppliers, share knowledge and learn more about the activities and advantages of the Manor Royal BID”.
Steve Sawyer, Executive Director of the Manor Royal BID, commented: “Through events like this the BID is starting to create a strong sense of community as well as boosting local trade. It was a privilege to host the Soapbox session where businesses spoke with such passion about what they do. A fantastic way to be reminded of the huge diversity of high quality products and services available on Manor Royal.”
