Surrey Connects has demonstrated its support for the local manufacturing sector by sponsoring the Export category of the 'Made in the South East' Awards, which recognise and reward the region's manufacturing companies.

An independent panel of manufacturing experts will judge the nominations and the winnerswill be announced at an awards dinner being held at G Live in Guildford on 10th October 2013, before going through to the national final in 2014.

Mark Pearson, Chief Executive, Surrey Connects says: "Surrey Connects is delighted to support the 'Made in the South East' Business Awards, which are an opportunity to highlight outstanding achievements of manufacturing businesses in the South East. In particular, we are keen to support initiatives that promote innovation and the benefits of exporting."

Local manufacturers are invited to enter the Awards which have nine categories:

• Manufacturing Company (turnover below £10m)

• Manufacturing Company (turnover between £10m and £25m)

• Manufacturing Company (turnover over £25m)

• Export Award

• Food and Drink Award

• Technology Award

• Digital Award

• Apprenticeship Award

• Aerospace/Defence Award
