This summer sees a complete revamp of the retail space at London Gatwick's South Terminal, starting with 10 new and refreshed stores opening from the 18 July.

From Kurt Geiger and Hugo Boss to Lacoste and Case, a range of exciting premium and designer brands will shortly enhance the offering available in the South Terminal departure lounge.

Two new stores - Aspinal of London and Ernest Jones - will be available for the very first time in airports in the UK, demonstrating Gatwick's commitment to delivering stores which offer even more choice for passengers. Harrods will also unveil a new 6,500 square foot department store focusing on fashion and accessories on the 1 August.

An additional 12 new or refreshed retail outlets will complete the transformation of the South Terminal departure lounge later this year.

The new retail space has been developed taking on board passenger feedback for a more premium and stronger mainstream offering of both national and international brands. The new brands have also worked closely with the airport to develop a unique understanding of Gatwick's diverse range of passengers, ensuring that the experience being offered truly reflects passengers' needs.

Spencer Sheen, Head of Retail, London Gatwick said: "As part of our multi-million investment programme, we have spent £21 million transforming the South Terminal International Departure Lounge into a state-of-the-art retail space. This is a huge step forward in improving the experience for our passengers and transforming Gatwick into London's airport of choice, as well as setting the benchmark for airport retail in the UK.

"Around 93% of our passengers visit a retail outlet before boarding and 86% will make a purchase so we need to offer them the right mix of services and products - whether it's a luxury department store, family restaurant or high street favourite."

Iain Burton, Chairman of Aspinal of London, said: "Aspinal of London is delighted to be opening our first airport store at Gatwick. Both business travellers and holidaymakers will now be able to conveniently pick up Aspinal's wide range of luxury travel accessories, luggage and handbags, as well as beautiful exquisitely gift boxed personalised gifts. The new Aspinal store is set to be an exciting favourite shopping destination for Gatwick's international travellers."

In addition, a strong focus has been placed on technology in the stores - including digital screens in Ernest Jones, and tablets in Dixons encouraging passengers to browse their complete range of products.

Samsung 'info tablets' will also be available across Gatwick from July and will be located in key dwell points throughout the airport. This will help deliver timely, accurate and personalised shopping updates to all passengers - from opening hours to locations of shops and restaurants - which will help streamline their journey and enhance their experience. The Gatwick website will also be available for passengers for instant access to airport, airline and onward travel information.

A new marketing campaign to tie in with the new openings in the South Terminal was launched on the 1 July giving passengers the chance to download or print an exclusive voucher passport enabling them to save up to £400 at the airport:

The North Terminal retail space is also undergoing exciting changes including the recent opening of the world's first Ted Baker accessories-only store. Passengers will also be able to check out a newly designed Fat Face store, as well as the new Boots Express, Lacoste and Superdry stores which opened in June and July. The Red Lion Pub also recently re-opened after a complete refurbishment.
