Gatwick Airport has been recognised by the UK Travel Industry as the best major UK airport, beating nearby Heathrow and northern contender, Manchester Airport.

One of the UK’s top travel magazines, Travel Bulletin, gave one of its Star Awards to the airport, recognising it as the best in the UK and set to get better through its multi million pound investment programme.

Andy Flower, the airport’s managing director said. “As well as winning this prestigious award, we have also just signed a contract for £31.3 million worth of redevelopment work at South Terminal. This will improve the experience for passengers and pave the way for major changes to the airfield layout, which will help accommodate our growth at Gatwick in the future. Despite the uncertainty of the sale, this Award proves Gatwick is performing well as a business and being recognised for its achievements.”
