StepstoSustainability, an event to foster innovative thinking on practical sustainability in the Gatwick Diamond, was so successful that it has inspired the setting up of an on-line Gatwick Diamond Innovation Forum.

The event attracted over 90 delegates from universities, business and the public sector, all committed to stimulating the development of practical innovation to achieve sustainability. Innovator and entrepreneur, Nigel Biggs, founder of businesses such as the Digital Camera company and Passionate Innovation, gave the keynote speech.

Go4Fresh, a project promoting healthy eating in the workplace, easitCrawley, aiming to replicate the successful congesting-busting initiative in Redhill on the Manor Royal industrial estate and Reigate and Banstead Borough Council's low carbon biomass district heating schemes using woodchips, created the enthusiasm to launch the Innovation Forum.

Gatwick Diamond Hub Director, Steve Wood, who organised the Event was delighted with the outcome: "Delegates were so keen on the three projects we featured that they wanted them to form the basis for starting an online Innovation Forum. It will initially feature these projects, as well as have a bulletin board and contact directory and we shall be organising more workshops with waste management and waste water management being priority topics."

Those who attended will automatically be invited to join as soon as it is set up, to join or for further information please contact steve.wood@gatwickdiamondhub.co.uk
