Launch of the Gatwick Diamond Future Plan

17 June 2008

Taking forward the vision of the Gatwick Diamond, to become a world-class internationally recognised business location, the key elements of the Future Plan for 2008-2016 were presented on the 17th June. Read the Outline of the Plan ...

Supported by the six local authorities and two county councils who are committed to integrating their efforts within the Diamond area, the plan has been developed following a programme of consultations with businesses, training and education providers and public sector partners. Although Gatwick Airport will remain a cornerstone of the economy, the plan will seek to also encourage the growth of non-airport related business to ensure the economy remains diverse.

The final report will be published shortly, it will address the needs of business both now and in the future to create a vibrant economy, including further education and training that will deliver the skills required and enable people working in the Diamond to fulfil their potential. Underpinning the vision is a philosophy of sustainable, smart growth which aims to ensure the area, and its beautiful surrounding countryside, remains a great place to live, work and run a business.
