The Diamond area includes a wide diversity of towns and villages each with their own distinctive character and appeal. Beautiful surrounding countryside as well as proximity to London and Brighton makes it a great place to live, work and locate any business. There are plans underway to revitalise many of the towns to create a 'quality of place' that will enhance the quality of life for everyone and create a buzz for business and the community.
There are a number of designated 'areas of outstanding natural beauty' such as the North Downs, Sussex Weald and South Downs. These are nationally important areas and will be preserved for the future by strict planning regulations. The principal towns and urban centres are:-
