The work of the GROW task group aims to create the conditions to support and encourage appropriate physical development within the Diamond to meet the needs of existing and future employers and communities to deliver a world class business environment. This will be achieved through building a partnership between developers and planning authorities with common goals and with the tools to deliver. The Chair of the Grow Group is Tom Crowley, CEO of Horsham District Council.
Priorities include:
- Developing a sub regional vision covering all relevant land use, infrastructure and economic development issues.
- Aligning the six local planning authorities’ Local Development Frameworks.
- Identifying and delivering essential infrastructure and assessing the potential for strategic business locations.
- Working with the South East Partnership Board and its subsidiary bodies to influence the new South East Regional Strategy (the combining of the Regional Economic Strategy and the South East Plan).
- Creating a sustainable Diamond through developing a comprehensive approach to issues such as energy conservation and alternative energies.
