Systagenix has announced the European launch of its CE Mark-accredited WoundChek Protease Status diagnostic testing system.
Developed in collaboration between Systagenix Wound Management and Alere, the device is the world's first rapid, point-of-care diagnostic test developed specifically for chronic wounds. It enables targeted intervention and cost-effective use of advanced therapies for modulating protease activity, providing results in just 15 minutes in order to ensure that clinicians can employ more informed treatment strategies.
Although recognised as an important marker in wound healing, it is currently difficult to detect elevated protease activity in wounds, as it provides no visual indicators. Louise Hambrook, Systagenix's global category director for diagnostics, said: "We're delighted that leading clinicians are recognising the potential impact WoundChek Protease Status will have on the way wound care is provided."
This comes after the firm was nominated for the new business of the year and innovation and new technology in business accolades at the Gatwick Diamond Business Awards earlier this month.
